August 14, 1993 FACULTY George B. Savo (70) Monterey Peninsula Herald, CA Aug 1993 George B. Savo, 70, of Pacific Grove, a teacher, died yesterday [Aug. 14] at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula. Mr. Savo was born June 21, 1923, in Yugoslavia. He attended Monterey Peninsula College and San Francisco State University and earned a master’s degree from the University of Oregon. He also served in the Navy. Mr. Savo was a high school social studies and international relations teacher at Pacific Grove High School for 25 years, and also worked as a potter. He had lived in Pacific Grove for 48 years. He is survived by a son, Marco, and a daughter, Buff, both of Pacific Grove. His wife, Joan, a well-known Monterey Peninsula artist, died in September. No services will be held. Cremation will be at Little Chapel-by-the-Sea. The Paul Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. The family suggests that any memorial contributions be sent to The CARE Foundation. Marco Savo reports that since my sister Buff Savo passed away four years ago I am the last surviving member of PGHS teacher George Savo's family.
