Alston S. Turchetta, 72, Hollidaysburg, passed away at Select Specialty Hospital of Johnstown. Alston was born in New Orleans, La., daughter of the late Harold and Ollie (Menfee) Stirling.
Mr. Altenburg was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Monterey serving on the Board of Deacons for several years. As a Ham Radio Operator, he was a member of several nets in Northern California. His passion for the past fourteen years has been his 63 acres on Lake Oroville.
On Feb. 7, 1970, she married Patrick F. Turchetta in Richmond, Va.
Mr. Altenburg is survived by his wife of 27 years, Lynn Altenburg; his son, Tyson Altenburg and his father, Eric Altenburg, all of Pacific Grove.
Surviving are her husband; sons, Jason (Melissa) of New Cumberland and Brian Turchetta of Crafton, Md.; and a grandson, Nicholas.
A celebration of his life will be held at the First Baptist Church in Monterey on Saturday, January 10 at 11:00 AM. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the Paul Mortuary. Contributions are suggested in the First Baptist Church Youth Program, 600 Hawthorne Street, Monterey, CA 93940.
Alston was a 1970 graduate of the University of Richmond with a Bachelor of Arts in history and of Clarion University with a Master's degree in library science.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020, at The Stevens Mortuary Chapel, 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602, where COVID-19 protocols will be followed. Committal will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
