Frederick Sorenson, 45, of Capitola, died of a heart attack Saturday in
Watsonville. Mr. Sorenson, who was known as Mack, was born in Carmel on Dec.
26, 1947. He attended Pacific Grove schools and had lived in Santa Cruz County
for the past decade. Well known locally as a collector and trader of antiques
and collectibles, Mr. Sorenson was a history buff who especially enjoyed
recounting tales of the early Monterey Peninsula. He is survived by his
mother, Elaine Sorenson of Freedom; two sisters, Gayle Cameron of Watsonville
and Michiele Longacre of Lakeport; and four brothers, Gary of Castroville,
James of Monterey, Courtland of Hollister and Jay Mead of Sonora. Private
burial will take place today in Soquel. Mehl’s Colonial Chapel in Watsonville
is in charge of arrangemtns. The family will announce details of a memorial
service and suggests that any memorial contributions be sent to the American
Heart Association, Central Mission Trails Chapter, 1514 Moffett St., Suite A,
Salinas 93905.
